drama for milton he would close his mouth and shake his head. that was drama for milton. and if you really wanted to get dramatic he would say something. "no". that was drama for milton. you knew he was really mad when that happened. if policy he was exemplary. he did his research. he did not go buy emotion. he did not go by ideology. he went with policy, so i disagreed with him occasionally. everyone disagreed with him occasionally but he always had a really good sound reason to promote what he was promoting. before either of us were on the board of trustees we worked together on policy. he was at friends of urban forest and we were working on legislation that eventually created the urban forestry council and we were both interested in that, and from then i was active with the sierra club but he taught me about policy, how you craft policy at that time. this was before he was in office. he was interested in coalitions. he got me involved in the blue green alliance which was an alliance between environmentalists and labor and promote green energy and other activities and

i never seen milton so happy. i will always remember milton's wicked laugh and sense of humor and his bed rock decency and what made him unique though was his sense of connectedness and his concern for family and friends and everyone he met. even when he was sick this last year and sick with his tumor he looked past those concerns to the people he loved. at the 30th are -- are you union where i joined him and talked with a classmate about health and said he was going to do everything he could to get better because his sons needed to grow up with their father. even in these last difficult months him and abbey were determined to create has many family experiences as they could, so although milton isn't physically with us anymore he's still here with his friends and contributions he made to san francisco and every other community where he lived, and through abbey, nathan, theo and will, and the rest of his family whom he loved most of all. we loved milton and we miss him terribly but we will never forget him. thank y

milton was a transformer. he loved bringing people together and making it happen and being part of it all and he loved san francisco. i was born and raised here too as we joke "on the other side of the park". he grew up in jordan park near children's hospital and i love how knew all of the corners of the city and found the restaurants in the holes and exploring the castro and swimming at the corcordia club and not in the nude as his father's generation did and taking the boy to the wells wells fargo museum or chinatown or the noon time calendar thing and throw the things out the window and come down in a shower. he loved it all. he treasured his family and san francisco history. his grandfather the judge and his parents involved in state politics of course want his family settled in the foot hills in the 1850's and we were lucky to show the boys this gold country this past june as caro told you about and other treasured family trips we took this summer. milton was dedicating to preserve the city's history and
